One of the loveliest Chinoiserie patterns painted at Herend, Siang noir dates back to the second half of the 19th century. The central motif in a round medallion shows a peony with pastel petals. From this radiate four panels filled with peonies and plum blossom, and surrounded by twining, swirling tendrils and flower heads. Cups, saucers and plates in the richly coloured SN décor have a high base, while the handles and knops are modelled as Chinese figures.
