This pattern, Victoria, papillons et fleurs, derives from the motifs to be found in the famous Victoria décor, one of the most consistently popular made at the Herend Porcelain Manufactory. It consists of a medley of the brightly coloured butterflies and flowers so gladly portrayed by the Chinese porcelain painters of old. In the centre is a lovely Chinese peony, its petals just open. Around it, rainbow-winged butterflies swoop here and there, interspersed by tiny stylized flowers. The border is edged with a gleaming golden line. This carefree, airy version of the historic pattern is painted in three colour variants.
