The influence of Far-Eastern porcelain art style is reflected on one of the oldest compositions of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory, the patinated Waldstein decoration. The central theme of the pattern is a fascinating composition of stylised flower motives, surrounded by a geometrical frame and simpler flower patterns. The decoration was named after the Baron Waldstein, who ordered a set with this pattern in 1842. The original service was ornamented with the coat of arms and the motto of the family-'Per laborem et dolorem ad honorem'-, and the decoration prepared in several colours remains extremely popular in our days.
