Fishnet Colors - Vieux Herend

The first figurine decorated with feather-like scaled design was made in 1871 by Herend Porcelain Manufactory. Back then, the famous Hungarian writer, Mór Jókai received a rooster with this pattern. The legend really started in 1930s and the scaled pattern soon became known wordwide as Herend’s speciality. The variety of different animal figurines became sought after collectors pieces. Recently, a wider range of colors appeared in addition to the original red and beside gold ornamentation, platinum accents has become more and more popular.
It is almost impossible to imitate this pattern, as the narrow or widening scales can be applied to the uneven surfaces by hand painting only. Various limited series make the “Vieux Herend” figurines even more popular, some using the combination of differenr colors and collection is increasing year by year. This hallmark design of Herend has also been applied on dinnerware sets since 2016.
